Dragon Roll Sushi
People love the Dragon Roll, a popular and beautiful sushi roll made of nori and sushi rice, which is wrapped around creamy avocado, crunchy cucumber, juicy shrimp, and rich cream cheese. With toasted sesame seeds and sliced avocado on top, it looks like dragon scales, which is how it got its name.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 4 sheets nori seaweed
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 8 cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cucumber, julienned
- 4 ounces cream cheese, sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
- Soy sauce, for serving
- Pickled ginger, for serving
- Wasabi, for serving
Instructions:
Follow the directions on the package to cook the sushi rice, then let it cool
Put a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat so that the shiny side is facing down
Cover the nori with a thin layer of sushi rice, leaving about an inch of space at the top of the sheet
Along the bottom edge of the nori sheet, line up slices of avocado, shrimp, cucumber, and cream cheese
Use the bamboo mat to carefully roll the sushi into a tight cylinder shape
Apply light pressure as you roll it
Use a sharp knife to cut the sushi roll into 8 pieces
Set out a plate to serve the sliced sushi roll
Toast some sesame seeds and put a slice of avocado on top of each piece
Put soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi on the side
